The short version. Rail gives your restaurant its own ordering page and a kitchen screen that shows the order the moment it's paid for. It costs $150 a month plus sales tax, per location. No commission, no per-order fee. You can stop any month. Your customers don't download anything.
$150 per month, per location, plus sales tax. That covers every screen, hosting, backups, monitoring, software updates and support. There is a one-time set-up fee for building your menu and getting you running, quoted after I have seen your kitchen — every kitchen is different and I would rather look than guess high to be safe.
No. No commission, no per-order fee, no share of anything. Your busiest Saturday costs exactly the same as your slowest Tuesday. That is the whole point of the pricing.
Washington treats hosted software as a retail sale, so it is taxable at the rate where the service is delivered. It shows as its own line on every invoice. It is not a fee I keep — it is collected for the Department of Revenue and passed to them.
DoorDash charges 6% on pickup orders, on every plan. At around $2,500 a month in pickup we cost the same; above that theirs keeps climbing and mine stops. Being straight with you: DoorDash finds you customers who had never heard of you, and I don't. My page serves the people who already know your name and were going to phone you anyway. Plenty of restaurants want both. If you take almost no pickup today, neither of us is worth your money yet, and I will say so.
Bank debit, taken automatically on the invoice date. You get the invoice by email before anything is taken, every time, showing the fee and the tax separately. Card or paying by hand are both fine if you would rather.
No, and they never will. It is a web page. They tap your link or scan a code, order, and pay. Nothing to download, no account to create, no password to forget.
Yes, and it does not need permission from your till company. A second "printer" sits on your kitchen network, so your existing terminal sends it a copy of every kitchen ticket and the walk-in orders appear on the same screen as the online ones. Your real kitchen printer carries on printing paper exactly as it does now. This has been built and tested against Clover, and the same approach works with any till that prints to a network kitchen printer — which is essentially all of them.
No. Card payments run directly between your customer and your existing payment company, on your merchant account, at your existing rate. I never touch the money and I never take a piece of it.
That is when it earns its keep. Orders land on the kitchen screen the moment they are paid for, with the customer's name and a suggested cook time, and nobody is holding a phone with a pen. The screen shows what is waiting, what is cooking and what is ready, so the counter can answer "is it ready yet" without walking into the kitchen.
You do, from the Manager screen, on a phone or a laptop, whenever you like. Prices, item names, options, photos, opening hours, holiday closures and your tax rate. What the site shows is what you last told it. You never have to ask me to change a price.
New online orders stop arriving and the screens stop updating, because they need your connection. Your till, your phone and your kitchen printer carry on exactly as before — this system cannot take your restaurant down, it can only stop adding to it. When the connection comes back the screens catch up on their own.
I am not going to quote you a percentage. "99.9%" from a business this size would be a marketing line and you would have no way to hold me to it. What happens instead: the system is checked automatically every five minutes and repairs many faults itself, I am alerted when it cannot, and everything is backed up nightly and copied off the server. If it is unavailable for a significant part of a day and it was my fault, tell me and that month is free.
Me. (360) 562-0498. Not a ticket queue, not a call centre in another time zone — a person in Cathlamet who knows your system because he built it.
You do, throughout and afterwards. Ask and I will give you a copy in a readable format at no charge, whether or not you are leaving. Your data is never held to make you stay.
No. No minimum term, no contract length, no cancellation fee. Stop whenever you want by telling me. Your ordering page comes down on the date you ask, you get your data, any unused part of a month you have paid for is refunded, and that is the end of it.
It is used to run their order and nothing else. It is never sold, never rented, and never used to advertise anything to them. Names come off the order history after thirty days. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Not without asking you first and getting a yes in writing — your name, your menu, your logo, none of it. That is written into the service agreement, not just a promise. If you say yes and later change your mind, tell me and it comes down.
